Wola Nani
Oasis North London has forged links with Wola Nani, a leading HIV provider in Cape Town, South Africa to provide a retail outlet for the sale of hand crafted items produced through Wola Nani’s Income Generation Programme for HIV positive women.
Women bear the brunt of the national HIV pandemic. Historically disenfranchised, disempowered and marginalized, they have little voice to articulate their needs or claim the services on which their survival depends.
Wola Nani, Xhosa for “we embrace and develop each other” was formed to help people living with HIV access the services which they need, and to create opportunities for them to help themselves. Wola Nani facilitates job creation programmes for individuals and families affected by the virus and offers community support services such as counselling and child care.
Wola Nani products are available through Oasis North London. We have a selection of native hand-crafted and beaded jewellery, paper mache bowls and picture frames, most of which are created from recycled raw materials. |
“The bowls are beautiful. They’re functional, but really attractive, too.
-Maggie
“They’re lovely, fantastic. The design reminds me of the fish back home.” - Dotty (from Africa) |
